Mayflower 400: The Story of the Mayflower Pilgrims

The Journey to the American Declaration of Independence

In 1620 the Mayflower set sail from Plymouth, England carrying 102 men, women and children seeking a new life on the other side of the Atlantic.  Their struggle to found a new colony at Plymouth, Massachusetts is an iconic moment in American and world history.

This tour takes you on a journey to the heart of their story, as you follow the Mayflower Pilgrims through rural villages, coastal towns and bustling sea ports.  We will visit Scrooby, the quiet northern English village which shaped their characters and their faith, sit in the pews of the Church where they worshiped and visit the Boston prison cells where the Separatists were held following their first attempt to leave England.

Covering North Nottinghamshire, Boston, Harwich and Plymouth, this tour will help you see the trials and tribulations the Pilgrims experienced before they finally set sail for the New World.  Along the way we will visit traditional inns and public houses that have been in existence since long before the Pilgrims set sail, and highlight the many connections that link the history and heritage of Britain and the USA.
