Jane Austen’s England – Winchester and Bath 4 Day Tour
Discover the literary landscape of Jane Austen on a two centre tour which takes in the cities of Winchester and Bath. Timed to co-incide with Bath’s internationally renowned Jane Austen Festival and to celebrate the bi-centenary of the writer’s death.
With transfers to and from London, this fully inclusive tour begins in Winchester, Hampshire, visiting the historic city’s Cathedral where Jane Austen is buried and the historic Winchester Old Hall. On day 2 enjoy a guided tour of the Jane Austen House Museum at Chawton, where she lived for the last 10 years of her life. In the afternoon visit Chawton House Library, formerly her brother’s home and referred to by Jane as “the Great House” in many of her letters”.
Transfer to the glorious Regency city of Bath, spending an evening free to explore the city. On Day Three enjoy the spectacular Jane Austen Regency Costumed Parade, the highlight of the annual Jane Austen festival. Costume hire can be arranged at an additional charge for those wishing to participate actively in the Parade. In the afternoon, enjoy a Jane Austen themed tour of the city, including entry to Bath’s Jane Austen Museum, followed by a traditional afternoon tea. Spend a second night in Bath.
On the final day of your tour, depart Bath to discover the timeless village of Lacock in Wiltshire. The unspoilt appearance of the village means it has been used for many film productions including BBC’s 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, and later filming of Cranford, and scenes from Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. Enjoy exploring the village and Laycock Abbey before lunch at a typical English pub and return transfer to London.
